Depressing Songs

Posted by Varun

I like mellow, sad songs. Sometimes these are the types you feel close to,sometimes they identify with what you are going through, and sometimes, you just want to sit down,do nothing, and continue to feel the way you do.So here are my favourite mellow/sad/slow songs,in no particular order.
Note hereby that a slow-ish anthem also sounds mellow to a metal fan :)

1. November Rain - Guns n Roses (watch)

2. The fray - How to save a Life

3. Josh Radin - Closer (watch)

4. Radiohead - How to disappear completely

5. Metallica - Fade to black

6. Apocalyptica - Stroke (some may not agree with me on this one but I stick by it)

7. Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna

8. In Flames - Come Clarity (again, not exactly mellow, but works.)

9. Josh Radin - Winter

10. Coldplay - Fix You

Do you agree with my top songs? What are yours? Do Let me know

you think lux aeterna is mellow/slow/sad???
it's a haunting crescendo of crazily awesome music man!
the song rocks, but doesn't fit in your category at all...
and many others are border-line :)
hadn't heard 'how to disappear completely' before... me likes it.
and I agree with the comment about afterglow. totally rocks!

heh haunting? perhaps I saw it with the movie and then heard just the song.Makes me really sad, that one, considering all the junkies we have all over the city :P
As for the other 'borderline' ones, I have a disclaimer on :P
Haven't heard INXS' song, but a mental note has been made

It is the feel of a song that makes it mellow or happy... hence apocalyptica does make it to the list... My fav. is definitely fade to black and winter... :)

Cheers!

BTW,,, you like people to scroll all down.. ro what.. i guess u need to reduce the width of your post column to put it at its proper place..

@ Poonam,totally unrelated,but here goes
IE is the most godforesaken piece of trash code written by anyone,I mean anyone.Switch to firefox,or update to IE7 and you won't face any such problems.IE5 and IE6 don't process CSS very well,so the template looks all skewed.Hope that helps

hey.. i swear by rammstein.. so these songs were pretty boring for me.. :P

but then.. that's just me.

Rammstein and mellow in the same sentence? Are you sober? :P

You want mellow sad songs? Try Leonard Cohen. At his concerts they don't have security, they have EMT's to take out the people who try to slit their wrists during the show - sheesh, talk about sad!

Are depressing songs and sad songs the same things? I don't think so. Depressing songs make you feel worse than you do already. Sad songs help you let your feelings out, and, in doing so, make you feel better. I'd call what you've got here sad songs, not depressing songs at all.....

good point,I guess this is a mixture of the two then, because some of these actually make me sad,and some I listen to when I'm sad.

good catch!

My favorite sad song of all time just may be Anna Begins by Counting Crows.
